A New Edition!

Chain of Command 2nd Edition!

TFL has announced that they will be releasing a 2nd Edition of Chain of Command! Or CoC2. I’m not sure of the exact naming format. This is great news. While Chain of Command is our favourite game, it could use some work.

We’ve been house-ruling some aspects of the rules already. Mortars are an issue. 20mm cannon fire is less useful than a .50 cal, which is an issue. The use of red dice, from the 1940 Blitzkreig supplement, is inspired and should be used for other areas.

Guess what? TFL is polishing up the rules to reflect their later releases, clarify confusing rules, capture lessons from the forum, and I am very excited. The first rule-set was very much a work of passion. Now TFL is a more mature company and I’m looking forward to play the 2nd Edition when it arrives!

A few of us managed to escape for a guys weekend on Hornby Island. Too much good food (thanks Tim) and lots of rainy walks but we also got to play The One Ring 2e (TOR 2e).

Back (B)log 4 – Refight Villons!

Having had a great time with Mike fighting at Villons Les Buissons, Lucius and I decided to leave the table up and refight it ourselves. Sadly we didn’t get photos of all of it, but I’ll try to tell the story through what we have. Note that if you’re reading this on email you won’t see the picture captions (not all photos do, mind). Our set-up was almost all the same as with Mike (here). The difference was that Lucius led with a recce vehicle, and my support options included a StuG. Lucius led with his recce car, and it fulfilled part of its purpose and found some of my forces. I deployed my StuG which eliminated the recce car immediately.
