Despite the fall cold and flu season disrupting plans we managed to get a game of Chain of Command down range recently. Lucius and I played a demo game for a friend. Not a full play report but here is a rough run-down and some pictures.

Lucius took the North Nova Scotia Regiment while I defended with some Panzer Grenadiers. We played scenario 3 from the core rule book, and chose support options to highlight the rules for our friend more than for their tactical use (though they both did good work). The North Novas took a Churchill, while I took a sniper to show how that option worked. The North Novas were attacking, and quickly pushed forces into the fields on my right. I let them advance for a few phases and then the firefight got going. I lost one squad on my right with some amazingly bad rolls, reinforced it and finally managed to hold the field on that side.

The Nova’s push up the middle supported by armour stalled out a bit when a panzerschrek round killed the gunner. Eventually the tank got rolling again and, with smoke cover lifting after a turn end, isolated and hammered my troops in the ruined house. I charged my squad in the house into melee as the Novas crept forward as a last gasp (and to demonstrate the chaos of melee combat in the rules). There was a lot of violence but my men broke and my morale went with them.
Overall, a really fun, quick game. Hopefully more to follow!
Hi from Ray, retired in 2017 and living in Sooke. I have been a wargamer for several decades. Since 1969. About to turn 74 this summer and played with board games to micro to 20mm and 28mm; Napoleonics to WW2. I received your first email a while ago and have enjoyed the contents very much. I don’t use facebook so email, face to face, or by phone. 250.686.2069.
I am active with a group who are in Nanaimo and enjoy what we have been involved in regarding gaming and some new eras that I never thought I would attempt.
So if yuu like, drop me a line in any method and we can go from there.
Cheers, Ray
