A Back (B)log of Photos: Italians in Chain of Command

As promised, here are some pictures of some games fought in the last year or so.

First off, some pictures of the first game with my Italians!

In Chain of Command they are quite an interesting force. They have two large sections which makes them quite resistant to shock. But with only two poorly led sections (activating with Junior Leaders only on a 4), it’s far harder to coordinate any sort of action without the use of a lot of support points.

In their first outing, my Italians fought some Canadians.

The battlefield was a simple crossroads. Again, my mat looks green in person but photographs quite grey…

The Italians answered some early scouting with a SP AT gun and brought on one of their large sections.

The Canadians deployed just beyond where I could fire and set-up their mortar team to lay smoke down. My AT gun fired repeatedly and missed. Repeatedly.

The Canadians moved up on my left. I deployed my remaining section and we ended up in a big fight: two Canadian sections vs one large Italian section. The Italians did much better than I expected, but ended up breaking. One Canadian section was gone, but the other continued to press forward.

I brought my pretty little R35 on and shifted my first section to the left of the field. The R35 ran through the Canadian section, but was unable to activate enough to do more than cause a few casualties. Meanwhile, another section poured fire into my men and my senior leader. Before the little tank could do much the Italian morale broke and the Canadians took the field.

I was quite impressed with how well the Italians played. They’re not FJs or Paras by any stretch, but I think with some armour (and maybe some different dice) they’ll be a capable opponent.
